Msblaster help

I have receieved the msblaster worm. I have since downloaded the patch and it tells me I need the KB823980 application installed

I have downloadede this since and everytime I'm setting up the application, the setup screen just closes after roughly 5 seconds

Also I am unable to stop the msblaster process whilst the countdown is in progress as when I press ctrl alt delete. that to just closes itself after 5 seconds

I would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks

Hi

If you have downloaded the patch, try to get to a command prompt and type:

shutdown -a

before your PC reboots. Failing that disconnect your modem and then install
the patch.

You could also try:
Click Start/Run then type in cmd
and then type in : shutdown –a
Do this when the shutdown prompt appears.

You need to clean your machine FIRST of any MSBlaster virus (or indeed any
other viruses). Go to
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?productid=globalsites&langid=in&venid=sym
and scan your whole machine, then go to
http://securityresponse1.symantec.com/sarc/sarc.nsf/html/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html
and download and run the free tool. Once it is free of viruses then go to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all Critical Updates.
