MSAS hangs while switching between scans

Maybe my question should be, what could stop the scan
progress when it reaches the "Variable Browser Highjack
Scan" part, just before it goes on to the Registry scan.
Does anyone know what could block this or make it hang at
that point.

I have scanned for Virus/Trojans (Trend Micro Internet
2005), I have used spybot S & D (Latest files), Adaware SE
(Latest files).

Is there any chance CCLeaner may inadvertantly take
something out with the registry issue option, because i am
thinking this is a registry problem.
I am using an account I created with administrator
privilages, the previous version of MSAS 614 I used with no
problems, I tried with the new version in safe mode, still
getting the same problem.

A mistake I may have made is while waiting for MS to come
to me to upgrade my 614 version, I went ahead and
uninstalled then did a fresh install of the newer version,
I don't know if this means anything or not.

I liked the MSAS Beta 1 and am looking forward to the next
one.But if I can't resolve this issue I will have to get
by, I currently use
Winpatrol,Processguard,Spywareblaster,Spywareguard and
teatimer, also my AV has a spyware scanner with it, so I am
pretty confident all my bases are covered, just would like
to get a credible response on wether this is just isolated
(my problem) or it has happened to others.

Looking forward to a response.

.
For those who may be interested, I got my answer at
Wildersecurity, it turns out it is the HOST file, if you
have the big one, the MSAS will freeze up on it, and right
now the MSVP HOST file is fairly big, also what made it
worse was the app Hostmans, cause it was just around that
time (13-7-05) I downloaded both the updated Host file and
Hostmans and shortly after the problem started.

The workaround is (and for now I had to uninstall Hostmans
which is too bad because I liked the update and edit
feature) remove Hostmans, and go to the folder etc and
rename the HOST file to HOST.txt, ((if you are using
Hostmans the file will not appear there),( also if you have
any startups running which uses the HOST file you won't be
able to rename)), Then run MSAS again and it will skip the
HOST file (a heck of a lot quicker now as well), after the
scan rename the HOST file to HOST, nothing will be changed
in the file.
