I encountered a problem this morning. Worked fine for a
couple months until now. This morning started getting
continuous 50% CPU utilization (max on one processor) for
gcasDtServ.exe at startup. Problem goes away when task
is cancelled.
System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Sony Electronics, Inc.
VAIO Computer Intel
Pentium 4 CPU 3.40 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard drive

Also running Norton Internet Security 2005, Spybot SD.
Ethernet connection to 2Wire DSL modem.

What you could try doing first is disable Microsoft AntiSpyware from the
Notification Area (right click the icon and click Shutdown Microsoft
AntiSpyware). Navigate to c:\program files\Microsoft AntiSpyware and delete
the error log. Go to Ad\Remove Programs (Control Panel) and the uninstall
Microsoft AntiSpware restart the system then install back MSAS.
