MS Word is opening with the text in bold, how do i change this

please could you help me. My Microsoft word has started opening with the text
in 'Bold' where before it opened with the text in normal, not bold. how can i
change this back. going in to the font settings and defaulting it does not
work.

First, is the bold button in the formatting toolbar active? Is it showing
your text as bold?

The reason I ask is that certain screen fonts in certain sizes appear bold
on the screen, even though they are not bold.

Is this happening with saved documents, new documents?

Which version of Word?
