MS Word document crashing Word program

I have a document I need to recover.

About 484k in size.....very important.

When I open the document I get the error box---"A table in this
document has become corrupted. To recover the contents fo the table
select the table & choose covert table to text from table menu"

When I click on "OK" in the error box--the document fully opens and
then the "Report to Microsoft..." box appears and after I click "don't
send" or "send" ---MS Word shuts down.

How can I open this document? The tables aren't important...I need the
text.

Hi Robin, depending upon which Version of Word, When you go to open the
document, next to the Open button is a drop down arrow, select open and repair.
If that doesn't fix the problem, then post to the Word NG

Make a copy of the file and open it in Word using the option in the
dropdown menu (File > Open )
'Recover text from any file *.*'

If this does not work then go to Start > Run and type
'winword.exe /a'
(Without the quotation marks and noting the space between the e and
the forward slash)
And then try to open the document.
