MS Word 2003

My word now seems to open every time with a banner on the left side with
thumbnails of the document in it Does anyone know how to turn if off
permanently. I've used Alt + Shift + C. That only works for the current
document

It should suffice to use View | Thumbnails to turn it off. If not, open
Normal.dot (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm for
instructions), turn it off, then Spacebar, Backspace, and Save.
