MS WinXP very cereous problem after SP2 update

E

Electroman

Hi ALL

HP Laptop 512m 2.4gig.
Was running good before SP2.

As usual MS sucks the big one again.

Updated WinXP Home to SP2

Now I get this..............

When trying to update a password the return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct.

An age old problem.

I cannot boot into any mode, that's ANY mode to fix the problem.

I have MS access 2K db that I just spent 100+ hours moding
and I can't get to the ****ing thing, not to mention all the new data.

Yes I normaly backup every 1hr. however that software wasn't working
and I have been very busy with the problems here with Hurricans to notice
that problem.

I found this on the web.......Take a look at the Date.

Two + years later. When is MS going to fix their shit.

Martin: this error has caused a lot of grief for many folks. The error messages

provide the first clues as to its nature:

"Isass.exe - system error

When trying to update a password, this return status indicates that the value provided

as the current password is not correct."

or

"Isass.exe - System Error Security Accounts Manager initialization failed..."

This is what Microsoft has to say in Q316134:

"this problem occurs because the OOBE cannot flush the Machine registry key before

the computer is restarted."

A hotfix is available from Microsoft, or you can wait for the next service pack (SP).

johannes at www.rezoweb.com says:

"the problem can come from a password file which is deteriorated (winNT/2000/XP)

it is enough to remove the password or the account user and to create another"

If you are still having a problem at this point, try:

1. Boot in Safe Mode (F8) and select "Last Known Good Configuration", or

2. Boot in Safe Mode and select Command Prompt and do a System Restore as detailed

in Q304449, or

3. Run the Recovery Console per Q307654 to repair your system.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows XP.

Question 1: Is their another SP after SP2 ?????

You may not be able to log on to your new Windows XP-based computer

Question 2: How do you load a SP if you can't boot into the system.

Question 3: What kind of ****ing drugs are they using at M$.

I have 8 linux servers here and two haven't been rebooted in 10 months.

I wonder what the record is for a winDoz machine -- 15, 20 minutes.

My Linux servers are megs more stable, reliable and FREE.

**** M$, Bill Gates and his gang, I will never buy another peice of software

from them again. Never!

They have raped the world with their software, aka garbage.

If someone has some knowledge on how to fix this, I would be greatly thankful

to them.

And sorry for my verbal display of anger.

Have a good day all.....

That is if you can using M$ crap.

P.S.

I have never had a windoz machine work properly to date, and I started with DOS

and ALL versions of Doz and anyone that say's they have, their machine works perfect

I say to them......

Your full of shit.......pal.

Well here's the solution folks.

5 hrs on the phone with M$ tech support and their solution was to
copy the backup system files into the system32 to get the machine to boot.

Try and off load critical data and then format reload WindowsXP.

In my honest opinion that is not a solution.

Since that is all M$ has to offer then I can only make my solution

Linux

I recently read that the Gov of Germany has officially decided to change all their
servers to Linux and all client hardware to Linux within 3 years.

That was inspite of the second in command at M$ spending a week over there
and offering a 7.5 mil dollar discount.............Wow!

Where's my discount............!!

If Germany thinks Linux is stable, reliable and cost effective for them, then why shouldn't everyone
including myself.

"this error has caused a lot of grief for many folks"

I pay for all the software we use here, I need not buy any more grief.

It's time to change.

If your tired of the way your being treated, then stop cooperating with the treatment.

I'm going to do as M$ suggested, reformat..................except I will reload with Linux.

I already have Fedora loaded on a 200 mhz pentium, really nice and it works.

I think alot more would convert if it wasn't for the learning curve on linux, however it seems
well worth it, rather then spending my valuable time reformatting and reloading M$.

I have been down that road to many times, I'm tired of it.

Have a good day all...........
