MS Test prep 70-620 as standard user?

C

Curt

I am trying to run the test prep software as a standard user. The option to
run as adminstrator under properties/advanced is greyed out. There is no run
as adminstrator option in the right click menu.

The program runs fine when logged in as an admin.

I used the compatibility toolkit and it told me what I already knew, that it
needs admin rights to run the VB stuff, I think.

Is there a way that I can change the perms to have it run as an admin, or at
least ask me? It thinks it's a standard program that doesn't need elevated
priviledges.

Any help is appreciated. TIA

Someone from this group was nice enough to point out to me to install the
program as an admin. that is, right click on the setup/install program and
select 'run as administrator'

Having done that, the legacy apps did not have anymore security issues.

I gave that a shot, and still no dice. It's actually a runtime error,
automation error, library not registered.

It works fine when I am logged in as an admin. I even went to the actual
program file, and selected it to run as administrator, and I got the
password box to come up when I started it, but still no dice. In fact, I
even duplicated the errorr in the admin account by telling it to run as
adminstrator for that account. It is installed in the admin account as a
standarrd program. As soon as I elevated it, it broke with the same error it
throws for the user.

It's not really that big of an issue, as I can log in as an admin, and do
the practice sessions. it's that I finally made myself a standard user, got
everything that I wanted to run to work, except that.

Running windows firewall, AVG, defender, and have UAC on now. Purring like a
kitty, for everything but that. 35% resource usage, and I am getting to know
a lot more about Vista by doing it. Even took the Vista assesment, at MS,
and scored 22 out of 30, which ain't great, but it let me know where I am
weak.

So I guess that until I hear back from Microsoft, that I will move forward
as is. At least I can still use it, so it's not really an issue, more of a
peeve. But thatnks for the help. And I am not giving up yet. If I find out
anything, I'll make sure to post the solution here.
