MS Search NOT working

ever had this problem
lets say use NTBACKUP ... and searching for the logfile after a backup
(not to mention the very good idear of development to put it at "C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXUSER\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data"
try a search from C:\ for file "backup01.log" or "*.log" - I guess you will have no result for the NTBACKUP log-files
try at the cms-prompt "c:\> dir backup01.log /s" ... the files will show up

it seams to be not the only bug ...

but, can someone repeat a similar search, getting the same WRONG ANSWERS fomr the search-program
please someone tell BILL

I observed the very same thing, but I never pursued the reasons; I
suspect it has to do with System/Hidden directories.

In your case, I'm pretty sure that Find (or Search) *WILL* find the .LOG
files *IF* you _start_ your search in C:\Documents...\XXXXUSER\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\

I think Find will not enter System and/or Hidden directories, but if you
start your search below one, it will search the remaining tree.

This subject is probably better discussed in a news group not explicitly
dedicated to command line matters.
