I somehow lost ms paint from my accessories. Does anyone
know how I can get it back? I have tried to reinstall it
with the windows disc I received with my computer but for
some reason it will not recognize the disc. Any
suggestions??

Open Windows Explorer (the file manager, not the Interent Browser).
Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32 (it may be C:\WINNT\System32). Find the
file mspaint.exe. Now, in the left hand pane of Explorer, navigate to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories. RIGHT
click on mspaint.exe in the right hand pane, hold down the mouse, and drag
and drop it into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Accessories. When prompted, click the option to create a
shortcut.

Try this: Click Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and on the left
column, click Add/Remove Windows Components. In the dialog box that pops up,
follow the instructions to reinstall Paint from the Accessories and
Utilities folder (it's inside the Accessories folder). (you'll probably be
prompted to insert your Windows XP cd at some point in this). Not sure why
your disc was being rejected earlier.

Hope this helps,

You can reinstall Paint

That is exactly what I did. When it prompts you to insert
disc and then click o.k. I do and nothing happens.

Try opening the control panel, then add/remove software. Go
to Windows components and REMOVE the accessories.

Then reboot.

Then go back to add/remove and reinstall the accessories
(you'll need a XP CD).

You could try just removing the Paint application, but if
that doesn't work, do the whole folder.

You must be using an administrator account, perhaps that is
the problem.

| Have tried both things, nothing.

But an administrator is the only one that can change or
add a program. So what do I do??

Open control panel/users and see what permissions your
account has for a start.
