OS = Windows XP, SP2
MS Outlook 2003
Prior to a major system crash last week, I had the following environment
set up:
The major item I use in Outlook is the Calendar. It is used for scheduling
and reminders. What I had is to set up in the "Start Menu", an entry that,
when the system is booted, it would start the Calendar and place an icon in
the systray.

After reloading my OS and MS Outlook, I seem to have that working again. I
placed the file in "Documents and Settings/<User Name>/Start
Menu/Programs/Startup". When the system boots, the Calendar is started and an
icon is in the systray.

My problem and scenerio is this: I want the Calendar running in the
background at all times. This way, I will get my Reminders at any time. I do
NOT need to "Start" the Calendar. Also, this gave me the ability to click on
the Outlook Systray icon at any tme and display the maximized Calendar on the
display. In other words, I did not need to "Start" outlook.

I guess another way I might reference this request (for us old-timers), I
would like The Calendar to run like a "TSR".

You cannot run OL Calendar without running OL, put a shortcut to outlook.exe
in your start menu and if required alter the view so it shows calandar on
startup

Your statement below is 100% correct. I mis-used some terminology.

After reload MS Office Outllook, I did the following:
- Open Outlook and clicked on TOOLS/OPTIONS/OTHER
- Removed the default(check mark) on "Make Outlook the default email..."
(I did this because I use a 3rd part client email called "Incredimail".
- Clicked on "Advance Options"
- Changed "Startup in this folder" to the Calendar.

After this procedure, I moved the icon to: "Documents and Settings/<UserN
ame>/Start Menu/Programs/Startup". When the system boots, the Calendar is
started and an icon is in the systray.

Now I will go back to my problem:
I would like the above running in the background. An icon (which I now
already have from the above procedure) to appear in the systray but when the
form is minimized, I do not want a minimized form in the Task Bar.

Again this will keep OutLook running in the background and allow all
Reminders from the Calendar to appear as they are reached.

If by running in background you mean an Icon in start up as apposed to OL
minimised I believe you have to use a third party tool. I've seen links to
such but never kept them, try google.
