I've got several public computers to manage and they all
have MSN messenger 6.1. I've noticed a problem with the
fact that even when you log out of your account, your name
stays on the logon area of the window next to the SIGN IN
button, and someone else can come along and click the
button. It does not ask for a password...and I can't find
any option to turn on to make it ask for a password. It
only will ask for a password if you choose to log in as
someone else, but you can easily log on as the last user.
I can reboot the PC, or for that matter uninstall and
reinstall msn messenger, and still the last person to use
it is esentially still logged in. Is there any way around
this?
Back in my day, accounts HAD to have a password entered in
order to log you in, even on your own non-shared computer.
Why would this simple feature be so hard to get nowdays?

In MSN Messenger in the options menu on the privacy tab there is an option to always ask for a password when signing into .NET services. Check that. If you want to keep the username from appearing in Hotmail or MSN on the web then I believe you will need to delete all cookies after a user signs off. But ask to be sure in the microsoft.public.msn.messenger newsgroup.

I'll try that. It's strange though, on the PC I'm on now,
that box is not checked, but it always does ask for a
password, but on all the PCs in question, I swear that box
is check, but it still never asks....?!?!
