MS Management Console 3.0 for Windows XP (KB907265)

At the MS download site there is MS Management Console 3.0 for windows XP
(SP2) available, with the date of publication 13 March 2006
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...66-06f2-463c-82a2-cf20902ffae0&displaylang=en).

I currently have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro (SP2)
and all of the current MS security updates installed. Is this an update for
the existing Management Console that I have on my computer? How can I tell
which version of the Management Console that I have on my computer? I
should note that I tried to access the KB907265 article mentioned in the
download page, but kept getting the message that this article was not
available.

this is the same thing. To see what version you have:

1. Go to the start menu and select run
2. Type in mmc
3. Click ok
4. In the program that opens, go to the Help menu and select about microsoft
management console

I have 2.0 and I'm not really to worried to update. the program is really
just a container for management snap-ins. This release is not
security-related, just functional so unless you need it I wouldn't worry.
