MS Internet Explorer opens the same MDE program twice

Hello,

if for some reasons I try to open with MS Internet Explorer a MDE access
file, which is on the server of my LAN, first tI get he window with a
question: "Do you want to open or save the file?"

After choosing the the "Open" button, the MDE file is opened. :)

But at he same time two small windows are opened. First window is a window
with a message "Verifying filename.MDE from server" and the second window
is a question "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to
run this software?"

Clicking on the "Run" command button cause the another opening of the same
MDE program! :-(

How to prevent such happening? This is not such a big problem for me (simply
close the double) but it is for an unexperienced user. As specially we have
this problem if we want to open with IE on a linux web server a shortcut of
a MDE file from a windows server.

Any idea how to prevent the second opening?

Why do you open an Access database file (*.mdb/*.mde) with IE when it is on
the LAN? That is just any moden browser's standard behaviour to ask user
first before a runnable file is requested by a browser. You will run into
more and more this kind of security barriers with latest browsers. So, do
you do thing that way with a LAN setting?

Since IE has to download the *.mdb/*.mde file to your computer and then
opens it with Access locally, that means no user shares data in that copy of
*.mdb/*.mde. So, why store it on the LAN?

Whether you need to share the data in the Access file or not, you should
simply place it in a network shared folder as back end, and create a front
end Access app and place it on user's computer locally and link to the back
end.

I don't have problems with sharing of data because I separated data from
forms and code. All the data are on the MS SQL server and the front Access
MDE files have only links to the tables and views on SQL server (and
queries, forms, reports and code, of course).

At the moment the policy of my company is however to put all shortcuts of
the applicable executing programs to our intranet page to have a unified
entry point. And so on intranet are all kinds of shortcuta and programs (PHP
+ MySQL, Excel and Word documents, ASP.NET, ...) and among them also the
shortcuts to my access aplications.

And duplication is sometimes too big snack for some users.

What to do?
