MS Explorer Problem

I uploaded some pictures onto a relatively new Dell laptop (WinXP) direct
from the camera using a USB cord.

Now whenever I open MS Explorer to view the directory tree, when I click on
a directory to open it, a search window comes up instead of opening the
directory I clicked on. To get the directory to open, I have to right click
on that directory and select "open", which is now located near at the bottom
of the list of options. "Search" is at the top, in bold letters.

I have no idea how uploading photos could have caused this glitch, but in
any case I wish to be able to click on a directory and have it open from that
click.

What do I have to do to bring this back to that configuration?

Search opens after editing Drives or Directories

Type in Start Run

regsvr32 /i shell32

This occurs when you use the File Types dialog to edit Drives or
Directories. You need to type the above each time you use that dialog to
edit those two types.
