MS-DOS...

Hi there, I tried to upgrade my Pioneer A04 firmware but the module I
downloaded needs MS 6 version or newer...

I do not have the option to restart on ms-dos mode on my windows xp,
why is that?

it seems also that the ms dos version I have is ms dos 5, is this
operative system free or do I have to buy the upgrade to MS DOS 6 or
the newest? if so, where do I do that? will I have problems with XP if
I install a new MS DOS?

I tried also to restart my computer and then hit F8 to select the "ms
dos command" but didn't have that option...

Im very confused in here, can you help me please?

There is no MS Dos in XP. What you need is a Dos floppy boot disk.
Boot from this disk and then install the firmware update. Get a
downloadable boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.

There is no boot to MS DOS option because there is no MS DOS in XP.
You will have to download a boot disk image and create an MS DOS boot
disk in order to flash your Pioneer A04 firmware update. Remember,
you're not installing MS DOS, you just need to create a bootable
floppy disk, boot your machine with the floppy, and run the flash
program from floppy.

You'll need to place the flash program on the floppy disk in order to
run it from there.

Go here: www.bootdisk.com

There is no DOS to restart to. But you can make a very basic DOS
bootable floppy, adequate for your purpose, in My Computer; r-click the
floppy drive; Format and check 'MSDOS Startup disk' before proceeding.
Then add the firmware flash program and data to it
