using the set command in MS-DOS I can change the path variable , but how do I
make the new path variable permanent ?
also how do i change it back to it original path name

Right-click on "My Computer" --> Anvanced --> Environmental variables.

Create or modify a User or System variable. The 'path' is a System variable.
