MS antiSpyware BETA1 -setup assistant loop!

anyone, please help:
I installed MS AnitSpyware a little time ago, and it seemed to work fine.
But!
Everytime I start the program - The Setup Assistant starts and I have to go
through the procedure again.
I tried to remove the software and install it again. But it is still the
same. The setup assistant starts up, all the time. How can I make this
program to work properly?

We have a sledgehammer fix for this which is as follows:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete \program files\Microsoft Antispyware and all subfolders. You will
lose access to any quarantined items, history, and customized settings.
3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware from a current version download.

However--I think I may have a "surgical" version that I could ask you to
try, if you would?
----
Delete or rename \program files\microsoft antispyware\gcUserData.GCD
----
You should probably stop Microsoft Antispyware by right-clicking on the
notification area icon and choosing to shut it down, before doing the above
operation.

Then restart it. You will presumably see the wizard once more--but I'm
hoping that file will be recreated and will update successfully thereafter.

If that fails, the sledgehammer cure will work, and I'll have to figure out
what's wrong with the surgical approach!
(Credit to Larry Russell who was able to spot the association of this issue
with this .gcd file.)

Thanks. I have been having this same problem and the "surgical" method
worked for me also.
