MS Access in XP Pro

I recently bought a program which uses Microsoft Access 200 Runtime. When I
open the program, I get an error message (in the vendors words) that the
program tried to run a macro or use the DoCmd object in Visual Basic to carry
out an action. The application is stopped and closed due to a run-time error.

The vendor told me I had to remove Microsoft Access from XP Pro. But I did
not install Access!!! He said that the Access database code is in XP and
has to be removed in order for his program to run. How do I do this???

Thank you for any help you can give me.

You may be better served by posting to a more relevant newsgroup such as:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.access.macros

IMO, it sounds like the vendor is giving you a run-around. If he was so sure
that there is code in WinXP that conflicts with his app, he should be able to
tell you how to eliminate this conflict.

My guess is that there is a macro in his app that was developed using an earlier
version of VB and the code is not supported in the latest version.

When you post to the other newsgroup be sure to specify the complete version of
the MS Access Runtime module since there is no version 200, as you've specified.

I'm sorry, not enough zeroes. Should have read "Microsoft Access 2000
Runtime" instead. I posted here because I do not have MS Access on my
computer. I also contacted MS tech support....they stated that MS Access
database code is not in the XP operating system.

Then you have your answer - the third-party software maker is giving you
the runaround. Either escalate the issue to someone more knowledgeable
at their tech support or find another program that is better written.

Thanks everyone for your input. The software maker insists that the problem
is with XP and not their program.

The vendor is lying.

How do I do this???

If you've never installed Access, you can't very well remove it.
