MS Access export date in the format: 01-Mar-2006

I am trrying to export an Access database with the date format: 01-Mar-2006.
Access allows me to have the format in a table, but when it comes to
exporting, the allowable date formats are limited. Currently I export from
access, open in Excel, and change the date format.

Use a calculated field in a Query: type

ExpDate: Format([datefield], "dd-mmm-yyyy")

into a vacant Field cell. Export from this query rather than directly
from the table.
