Is there a difference between laptops that have say, 64MB of shared video
ram, vs 64MB of dedicated video ram, in terms of performance with ppt and
mpeg files?

I will be needing to run a ppt presentation that includes several large
mpeg2 files, and need to see the videos on both the laptop screen and the
projector. Any advice here? Any steps to take to assure success?

Thanks,
Steve

I don't know if the shared ram vs non-shared ram is the culprit for the 'black video' with laptops.

I guess you've already this page?
Videos play correctly on computer but not on projector (black box)

My advice would be "test" before buying. Even the same laptop bought 6 months earlier does not always give the same
results.
