Hi, I am trying to get an mpeg2 file to play in PowerPoint without success.

I have done this many times without a problem previously and, even now, if I
replace the video with another it works fine!

The clip appears in slide 3, slides 1 & 2 play fine (text & images); when I
try to play slide 3 (the video file) the HDD clicks a couple of times then
nothing happens. If I then move to slide 4 and return to slide 3 (Right
click>previous) the video clip plays without a problem.

Can anyone please suggest what is wrong?

For info I am using PowerPoint 2003, Windows XP Pro, HDD is 70% full, video
file is encoded at 720x576, 44,000 audio. I'm not sure which codec is used
but windows obviously supports it because the file will play (also plays fine
in Media Player).

Many thanks

Tony

Does it play fine if you go to Start > Run, type mplay32.exe and then open and
play the file? That's the player that PowerPoint uses, not the Windows Media
Player.
