I posted this to microsoft.public.multimedia.windows.mediaplayer earlier
today, but figured I'd post here too, since it's kind of annoying.
In a folder called "Various Artists," I have 88 MP3 files. When I drag
the files into Winamp's playlist, it recognizes all of them without any
problems. When I drag the same 88 files into Media Player 10, it only
allows 72 to be added to the playlist.
"Various Artists" isn't the only folder where this happens. It's pretty
much any subdirectory where I store MP3 files. There's a chance that some
of them won't be recognized as media files.
Why is that, and how can I get around them?
Possibly related: When I try moving some of the files, I get a message that
reads something like "Are you sure you want to move the system file named
yyyyyyyy.mp3?"
If anyone has any suggestions as to why Windows and Media Player arn't
recognizing these files properly, I'd love to hear it.
