MP10 won't display in Full Mode

My Windows Media Player 10 won't launch in full mode. This happened the day
after I noticed automatic updates installing at shut down. It will display
skin mode, but when I Cntrl+1 or Cntrl+2, it just shrinks to the task bar as
an open window-only there is no active window.

It appears to come down from OFF the desktop, top right side, when I click
repeatedly on the "active window" in the task bar.

This is terribly frustrating as I can't sync to my mp3, nor burn nor rip
cds. Neither can I cherry picks to add to now playing. I also am unable to
view my music library.

Thanks so much to anybody who can help me.

Ctrl+1 is Full Mode and Ctrl+2 is skin mode. Click View on the toolbar and
then click Full mode. If still nothing, put your cursor on the bottom
righthand
corner of the window and drag it to the bottom right, which will put it in
full
mode. Close WMP10 and Open it again to see if the settings hold.

Thanks, have done the Cntrl moves, and no window appears for me to drag.
Nothing opens when I click the WMP10 shortcut on my desktop, other than "the
illusion of an active window" in the taskbar. Occasionally I can get it to
convert to the quick access panel. From there, I can pull up albums,
artists, playlists, etc for playback but I am unable to drag those tracks to
sync to my mp3, nor can I burn any tracks to a cd.

When I try to launch this program, nothing seems to open other than the
little bar in the taskbar.
Thanks again.

You may have some corrupt files within WMP10, or you could have picked up
some malware/spyware. Download a fresh/new copy of WMP10 and install it
overtop of the old one. DO NOT delete or uninstall your present copy. It is
designed to be installed overtop of itself.

The first thing I did when this problem arose was to re-install WMP10. But I
tried again, nothing happened.

I ran my Ad-Aware, SpySweeper scans. Then I did a computer disk cleanup and
defrag. THEN, I re-installed WMP10 AGAIN, but nothing is happening after it
supposedly "successfully installs". When I click on the name in the toolbar,
it "flys-off" to the far upper right hand corner of the desktop. It is like I
should be able to just move my cursor off the desktop to find it.

This started last week, Wed or Tues. Should I do a system restore? Would
that fix it? I'm desperate to even consider this.

Again, thanks for helping.

Yes, a System Restore may solve the situation. You can go back up
to 90 days. If that doesn't help, try a System File Check (SFC)
Start>Run>type SFC /SCANNOW and press OK.
Have your XP CD handy for it may ask for it. SFC is a system file check
which will resplace corrupt of missing system files only.
