Moving files takes forever?

I just moved about 4G of Ghost Backup files to an external drive over
a USB connection, took about 2 minutes. But when I tried to move the
same files to another folder on my PC, the bar timer indicated 40
minutes - I cancelled the operation. Any idea why an internal file
move should take so long? Thanks!
 
If you have two hard drives on the same IDE cable, then the system needs to
stop the read while the write is occuring.
