Moving files larger than 5gigs (File Spliting Software)

I have a Lacie 250GB hard drive. I use it to store certian files that
are usually 3 or 4GB in size. Apparently I cannot move a 5GB or larger
file into this Lacie drive.

I have already spoken to the manufactuer, and they said it has something
to do with the files system.

Is there any type of work around for this, or a file spliting software
that will accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If this drive has a FAT32 file system, the max. file size is limited
to 4GB.

Is there any type of work around for this,

"CONVERTING FAT32 to NTFS in Windows XP"

FAT32 has a 4GB limit on file size. NTFS does not have that limitation so is
more suitable for large files. Is there a reason why need to use FAT32 such
as sharing it with an operating system like Windows 98 or Me that cannot
read from an NTFS formatted drive? If you only use the drive with Windows XP
then why not convert the drive to NTFS? It is easy to. In addition to being
able to work with very large files NTFS is a superior file system, requires
less maintenance, is more stable and offers greater security. Go to
Start->Help and Support and do a search for 'convert to NTFS'

It will presumably be formatted in FAT 32 - that has an absolute limit
of 4GB (less a couple of bytes) on the size of any file. You should be
able to reformat it as NTFS - but I don't know if there are any special
considerations for that with a LaCie product and you should check with
them. Normally, Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management,
select Disk Management and look lower right for the graphic of the
drive. R-click existing partition, delete, r-click resulting
Unallocated space, Create Partition, going on to Format. At above 32GB
XP will only make a NTFS partition anyway
