'Move to file' issues

hello,
I am having major problems with 'move to file'.
I download media in wmv/mp3/jpg format to a file C:media/today, an
then use the 'move this file' command in the left margin.
All I get is an hour glass with no further action. The only way to en
this hang up is by clicking 'X' top right corner, or ctrl, alt, dlt
Thes commands close the screen, momentarily remove the desktop icons
and leave you with just your wallpaper. The icons then reappear.
This started to happen 3 day's ago. I can use system restore to the da
before, and that rectifies the problem instantaneously. However, switc
of your pc, and you're back to square one. Any ideas?
I've used ad-aware, microsoft antispyware and McAfee. Nothin
detected.
Thank
