HelpPls

Hi all -

I followed ARTICLE ID: 325473 in trying to move my DHCP Server Service from
a Windows 2000 Memeber Server to a Windows 2003 Member Server. I got as far
as running the netsh dhcp server c:\dhcpfile.txt all but this is where it
FAILED. I recieved an access denied. I was logged on as an admin. Now the
one thing I am confused about is - before running the command, I
copied/pasted the dhchfile.txt. Am I supposed to "import it with the
utility"? The article is confusing me on that point.

Thanks- sean

Hi,

Enterprise Admin Group is located in a Root Domain in the Users
Container by default. The Domain cannot be a Child Domain.

Do a search for it. Only an Enterprise Admin can authorize DHCP. This
was brought in because DHCP is not domain-specific and can mess things
up if there are two disjointed DHCP servers running.

Cheers,

Lara

Lara -

Thanks for your help. I was referring to where I can find the DHCP Admins
Group (does one exist?) but were you all referring to joining the new DHCP
server to the Enterprise Admins group?

Thanks -

There is no DHCP Admins Group. Your account needs to be a member of
the Enterprise Administrators group before you can do any work with
DHCP. The default "administrator" account installed in a Root Domain
is automatically part of the Enterprise Admins group.

Not sure what you mean about joining the DHCP server "to" a group.

Cheers,

Lara
