Quicktime Pro from Apple can export Quicktime as AVI and does a good job
where other processes fail.
I think if I were to convert mov to mpeg I'd probably do that and then use
TMPGEnc from www.tmpgenc.net (my favourite MPEG encoder and tools) to
convert to MPEG.
I'm sure there are tools that do the job in one step but I trust the results
from QT Pro.
