Mouse wheel scrolls horizontally?!

My mouse wheel typically scrolls vertically, just as it
goes with any other Office app. Then, sometimes, for
reasons beyond my comprehension, it starts to scroll
horizontally in Excel. Doesn't do that for any other app,
just Excel.

Windows XP Pro, Intellimouse Explorer, most recent
drivers.

Very weird. Something happened, but danged if I know
what. Has anyone else run into this?

Are you sure you are not hovering over the horizontal
scroll bar when then happens?
Apart from that all i can suggest is to look in "options",
there may be something in there that is causing this to
happen.

Carolyn,

Could you be pressing the wheel down? Sometimes that switches it from
vertical to horizontal.

Carolyn/Earl -- thanks for taking a look at my post. I'm
hovering over the horizontal scroll bar, and I'm not
pressing the wheel down. Even further, this happens when
I'll have the same spreadsheet open all day. So at one
point the vertical scroll is fine, then it swaps to
horizontal. I'm thinking there's some buglet or
configuration that causes this, and I was hoping someone
had run into this before.

It's very weird.
