mouse problem

My home ethernet network consists four systems each running a differnet
version of windows (98SE, ME, 2000 Pro and XP pro). Monitor, mouse and
keyboard are shared via KVM switch.

The only problem I have is upon switching the KVM switch from the 2000
system then back, the serial mouse is unresponsive. I must then use
keyboard to navigate. This does not happen with other systems.

Is this something I just have to live with, or is there some setting for
either the COM port or mouse I can't seem to find?

Check the setting on the KVM switch! Some give you the ability to set
options. You may can reset Key and mouseport. But it depends on the KVM.
Also check the cables!!!

Thanks for reply...

KVM switch is mechanical thus has no settings. Tried different cables and
different position on switch, same results. I truly believe its a win2k
problem. Possibly a driver.

Its an MS Mouse driver, maybe I'll try their site
