Mouse not responding

Howcome when I turn on my computer my mouse doesn't respond, only after i
restart once or twice... maybe 4 times the mouse works. There's nothing
wrong with the connection and i've tried all of the intellimouse drivers..
is this a common problem, because my friend has it with his computer too..

I've seen this issue posted before and it was suggested that if you are
using one of those ps/2 adapters with a usb mouse to take off the
adapter and just run the mouse usb.

Had a similar problem with my grandsons computer. Tried Gateway &
Earthlink with no help. What I did was shut down & disconnected the
mouse. I took the mouse from my old computer & connected that.
When we restarted XP found a new device & used a different
driver. It seemed to work. We then shut down & reconnected
his mouse. XP found a "new" mouse & used a different driver.
We then went to Gateway & got a replacement mouse. My
grandson uninstlls & installs games. From what little I know
& if I had to guess it probably is software. Of course you
checked for loose connections but what I did was go into
google & askjeeves & searched on mouse problems. One
thing they also mentioned was "heat" in the computer. make
sure that there is enough air so that the heat does not build up.
