Mouse Cursor in Safe Mode

I am running WindowsXP Home Edition. For some reason my mouse is not enabled
whenever I am in safe mode. In order to navigate around my desktop, I have
to use the tab keys or arrow keys. Is there a configuration setting that I
can use to enable the mouse whenever I am in safe mode?
 
Hi Bill,

What type of mouse connection is it? Sounds like that type isn't supported
in Safe mode.
