mount a lap top as a harddrive

got a new vaio and want to tranfer files onto new computor... can i
transfer via my ethernet cable and mount old lap top as a 2nd hard
drive.....

i've tried just plugging the to pcs together and nothing happens

help.

I believe that to transfer files over, you will need to enable "Internet
Connection Sharing" on the new PC, and hook up the two PCs with a Crossover
Ethernet Cable. Then, set up the old PC and put the files you want to
transfer in the "Shared Documents" folder and drag over or run the wizard.

You could also hook the two PCs together via a LAN. Much easier approach if
you have one.
