How do I make it where my mother in law cannot d/l games onto my comp Cani
have a password set up for each d/l??--

If your mother in law had any respect for you she wouldn't use your
computer. Ask her to bring her own computer or buy her a tablet or laptop
for use at your place only.

P.S. Better still. Build her a box (only US$300 or so + OS) or have her
build it and install a KVM switch to switch between the machines. Make sure
your passwords are stored in your head only and if she tortures you don't
give in before death.

How about just granting her a regular user account? That should eliminate a
bulk of your problems. If that doesn't help to the extent you are looking
for you can lock the account down further by impletmenting more restrictive
policies/permissions.

Change her account to a limited one.
(If using and you understand Windows XP Professional - make it a "user"
account.)

This should keep her from installing anything.

Change your logon so it has a password, hers can (but doesn't have to) and
make sure your account LOCKS after a period of inactivity using the
screensaver. Also, remember to logout when you walk away.

A home machine with Windows XP (home or professional) is a great place to
utilize the Welcome screen and password protected screensavers with Fast
User switching.. This allows your account to remain unchanged in look/feel
and prevents other users from installing random things.
