most recent documents

I am using Word XP, on an XP [Home] computer. I haved
attempted to customize word to the end that the file menu
will show the most recently used (edited?) documents. For
reasons that are not clear to me...when I set
options....bywhich I mean using the various tabs to dictate
the programs behavior...the most recent documetns option is
grayed (greyed?) out...

I already have the option that the whole menu is shown
atall tiomes.
 
The usual cause of this problem is if you have used TweakUI to change the
paranoia settings associated with documents.
