I have 4 ide devices - 2 hard discs and 2 cd/dvd players.

If I want to add more hard drives can it be done?

Do I simple go out and buy a new ide interface card and drives?

Yes

Yes

It does help to have someplace to mount them though, with adequate
airflow. Stacking HDDs in the same rack usually, greatly reduces
airflow, causes 'em to run hotter.

You can fill all of your PCI slots with multi-channel SCSI RAID adapters and have 150 or so SCSI drives.

Get a Promise ATA card (which emulates SCSI) to add 4 more drives.

Adding Promise card and these would be the best way to have as many drives
as you want without taxing your PS creating heat. I have over a dozen
ranging from 80Gigs to 200 Gig HDDs.
