ok I finally got the mac to communicate with the server
but there was a registry spot i had to edit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanma
nserver\parameters and I had to null (set from 1 to 0)
requiresecuritysignature once I do this the macs talk to
the server fine but that key keeps getting reset back to

Hi Marc!

This sounds like you're possibly changing the server's security policy
for digitally signing communications.

Check this article on Microsoft's site about disabling this policy.
<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;811497>

It refers to Windows 95 but this information applies to SMB clients as
well.

Hope this helps! bill
