I can connect to my ftp server with username and password, but cannot see
any directories.

How do I resolve this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Ain't got a clue.

This is a Windows XP peer-to-peer forum, not an FTP forum.

How do I resolve this?

server software?
client software?
LAN ftp connection?
WAN ftp connection?
routers involved?
if so, make/model?
port or pasv mode?
ftp error code?

If you're running your FTP client on a computer behind an NAT (Network
Address Translation) router - and nearly all home routers do NAT -
then you'll probably have to tell the client to use passive mode. This
affects the way the client and server cooperate to send data (as
opposed to commands) between themselves. A directory listing is data
in this context.

The built-in command-line FTP client cannot do passive mode.

To be honest, if you can connect then most of the work is over.

What happens once you connect? (messages, displayed text)
what program are you using to connect?
what user name are you using?

It is possible to connect and not see any files/folders if that user account
is set that way.

Have the ftp administrator check to see what your "ftp root" folder is, and
what SHOULD be there.
Then connect via different FTP clients (IE, cmd.exe, or a proper client like
leechFTP / cuteFTP) and compare the files you see.

Most of the time its just ftp root folder settings that cause this.

good luck
