Monitoring a TCP connection between two servers?

Hi

I have a situation where I need to monitor a VPN connection overnight
to make sure it is staying up (we suspect not), and the only way I can
think of doing this is to set a ping going between 2 servers (one on
each end of the VPN connection) and see if there is any packet loss in
the morning. But this will not tell me at what time connectivity was
lost, if at all. Can anyone point me in the direction of a simple tool
that I can enter 2 IP addresses in and sit back and have a log created
please? I've looked at NETMON but to be honest, i'm finding it VERY
hard to get to grips with.

Thanks in advance

Lookup IPSentry. It keeps a log and can send you an e-mail (or even e-mail
your cell phone if you have that service) when the link is lost.
