Monitor will not turn ON after restart..

I have a desktop running Windows XP Home edition. For some reason after the
computer went into Hibernate mode, and the monitor powered down, the monitor
will no longer come back on. It will not come on if I turn it on or off,
wiggle the mouse etc...

When I restart the system, I get the initial boot screen and the Microsoft
XP splash screen, then it immediately goes dark and powers down. Yet the
system continues to ramp up. I've tried switching monitors, and had the same
results. So there's something in Windows telling the monitors to stay in
Hibernate and I have no idea how to fix this.

This is my daughter's (5) computer and I would appreciate any help.

I have a system that will exhibit the same symptoms if it is powered up
without the monitor attached. The next boot, once Windows is launched, I use
Ctrl-Alt-F1 to turn on the video. It's an iGoLogic mini-ITX.

I know that might not solve your problem, but it might trigger an idea from
someone. Do you know what motherboard is in the computer?

Not yet, but I will this evening. Was re-posting to the forums you suggested
first. Thanks for the advice.

Not sure on the motherboard. Others have suggested booting in Safe Mode and
checking the power save settings. Will try that this evening.

This system is an old Micron system.
I'll keep your shortcut in mind if all else fails.

Thanks.

Success! After varying the power settings in SAFE MODE with no success on
rebooting, I finally updated the VIDEO DRIVER from Safe Mode. The system
rebooted to Normal with Full display. No more issues. Will keep power
settings at NEVER for now, just in case.

Thanks for your help.
