Without any warning, the monitor goes blank and says "no signal" I have to
shut off the computer and start it up again to get it back. This started
happening just while playing games, but now it happens about every hour no
matter what. I was told that it may be a problem with the motherboard ?

I'd be more suspicious of the video card. Intense graphic games can heat it
up, perhaps creating or exposing a hardware problem if the card is not
properly cooled.

Some details of you system would help diagnose the problem

You might also test a reinstall of the video drivers, or alternative drivers
from the chip or card manufacturer's WEBsite. If results are
unsatisfactory, ROLL-BACK to the earlier drivers.

Thanks! - I took a look at the inside of the computer and it needed cleaning,
and there's a fan at the back that isn't coming on either, so maybe it was
heating up too much. I'll check the drivers as well.
