I've noticed this behavior with NVidia-based video
chipsets in XP when using other that any imbedded
Microsoft XP video drivers: Several different monitors
now blank out at the predetermined time but do not
actually power down to low-energy levels. They just
blank out and quickly snap back to life upon moving mouse
or hitting keyboard. I know monitors are not truly
powered down because # 1 - they are hot to touch in back
and # 2 - They come back to life too quickly. I've tried
both the Microsoft Plug-and-Play monitor driver and the
actual monitor driver provided by the two monitor
manufaturers (NEC and KDS)and I still have the problem.
This does not happen with other tnat NVidia video
chipsets.
