I would like to know if its possible to be emailed any hardware failures
which are posted in the event log automatically.

I have got hold of psloglist and blat but not sure if it would work.

Yes, you can use PsLogList and Blat in a scheduled batch.

you can also get a real server (like an HP Proliant) which has lots of nify
agents that can notify you when just about anything happens on the server
.... even predicted failures.
