Monitor Screen Resolution - help!

I just finished reinstalling windows xp on my pc and now i cant get the
screen resolution to go above 640 x 480, and the colour is completely messed
up. I tried loading the driver for my Syncmaster 955 DF Samsung monitor, but
it wouldnt accept it. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem with the
monitor? Thanks so much!!

Have you tried installing the WinXP-specific drivers for the computer's
video adapter? After all, it's the video adapter that controls the
display settings, not the monitor.

Surely the driver you load is for the graphics card not for the monitor ? !
