Monitor problems

I have just bought a new computer with a Radeon 9200
graphics card in it, and am having issues getting my
widescreen monitor to display the image full screen.
There are black lines either side of the main image and
no matter how much I mess with the resolution, the image
never fills the full screen. Any ideas?
 
widescreen is supposed to be like that. I don't think
windows supports widescreen capabiliities
