monitor problems

i have a problem with my monitor not turning on when my pc
is booting. its an oddity that happened out of the blue.
running xp.

usually the monitor is in standby mode when pc is off
(normal) and when pc is booted it normally turns on, which
at the moment isnt happening. there is power to the
monitor, i have tried switching monitor on and off whilst
pc is on, i've unplugged all cables, turned off all power,
plugged everything back in, and still have the annoying
black screen.

i've also plugged in another monitor of mine with the same
black screen staring me in the face. the other monitor
works fine when plugged into other computer by the way.

im led to believe it could be my graphics card playing up.

any one here have a fix??

Do you have another video card you could put in this computer as a test?
The new card should at least start up in VGA mode. If that works then I'd
install the generic VGA driver and then test with the original card again to
see if it starts working. If not then the card may just be bad and need to
be replaced.
