Monitor/log shut down activities

Is there any freeware to monitor or log programs
which start to run when shutting down WinXP?

Having problem with a program that starts
when shutting down and it shows some kind
of message of a missing file. It is so fast I'm
not able to read it.

Try hitting the Pause button.

May have an error message.
You may be able to get more info from the Event viewer.

Also, once you find the offender, this is a good registry change.

Close apps automatically & quickly at shutdown.
Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and look for AutoEndTasks.
Default value is 0. Change it to 1.
