Monitor Issue

I upgraded from XP home to XP Pro.

My display resolution is 800 x 600

By going thru the advanced settings tabs I determine that the monitor is
"default monitor" and there is no way to change it.

Same with video adapters.

Tried to go thru device manager and update drivers. I would navigate to
where the drivers were and it would not recognize them.

Any ideas, pointers, places to look etc?

Thanks everyone

Phil

there should be a inf for the monitor, once the monitor is
identified it should load the correct and safe settings.
there should be an option to have display properties show
all settings, even with the default monitor.
