Monitor goes off and on rapidly during boot up

Hi,

I have had the following problem ever since I bought a new pc this summer:
When booting up, after the windows screen comes on and startup programs are
loading, the monitor goes off and on in succession rapidly for 2 or 3 times.
Then everything is ok. The same thing happens when I click on Display
settings. I have Windows XP Pro with Radeon 9100 IGP with the latest catalyst
drivers installed. The monitor is an NEC Multisync 77F and I have installed
its driver. The refresh rate is 85. The device manager indicates all ok. I am
stumped and would like this on-off issue to just go away.

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Probably normal behavior.

Video driver querying display for its capabilities
and triggering resolution mode changes.

Some card/monitor combinations do it more/worse than others-
it appears you have one of them.

My 9600SE/Samsung 191T goes on and off fully 4 times during
bootup.

Ok, thanks V Green, I thought it might have been something in the way the
display settings were set. I've been around a lot of PC's and I've never
encountered one that behaved like that. Thanks for responding.
